BACTRIA - Bactrian kingdom - I Eucratides

(170-145 BC)

He returned to O. Bopearachchi have confirmed two Eucratides. It has completely revised the chronology of these kings that reigned on the borders of Hellenism, the gateway to India, to the frontiers of current Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The type having a helmeted bust and the Dioscuri on the reverse is well known thanks to the gold coin 20 staters, weighing 169.20 g and is the largest Greek gold coin preserved. It was purchased in 1867 or 30 000 F on personal cassette Napoleon III and is preserved in the Cabinet of medals Paris.
