Historical background

ALSACE - STRASBOURG

Strasbourg, in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century, played a big economic role intellectual and artistic. The cathedral, whose construction began in 1277, was completed at the end of the fifteenth century. Gutenberg, the inventor of printing, resided in Strasbourg from 1438 to 1447. Home Oeuvre Notre Dame and Kammerzell house were erected at that time. Strasbourg will be mixed with the Wars of Religion that will devastate the Alsace for over a hundred years.
