Commentary


Médaille à l’éffigie de Guillaume II avec un revers utilisé pour la médaille du siège de Strasbourg (Alsace) durant la guerre Franco-Prusse. Le droit indique alors FÜR FREIHEIT RECHT UND DEUTSCHE EHRE. Le revers est signé DRENTWETT & PETER, pour Carl Drentwett, (1848-1878) & Peter.

Frédéric Guillaume Victor Albert de Hohenzollern (en allemand : Friedrich Wilhelm Viktor Albrecht), né le 27 janvier 1859 à Berlin et mort le 4 juin 1941 à Doorn, aux Pays-Bas, est, de 1888 à son abdication en 1918, le troisième et dernier empereur allemand et le neuvième et dernier roi de Prusse..

(15/06/1888-9/11/1918)

William II (27/01/1859-4.06/1941) is the eldest son of Frederick and Victoria of Saxe-Coburg Gotha. He is therefore the grandson of Queen Victoria of England. Emperor in 1888, he let himself be drawn into the First World War by his staff and had to abdicate in 1918. He took refuge in the Netherlands and died in 1941.
